The Federal Budget for 2025-2026 was handed down by Treasurer Jim Chalmers at 7.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday 25th March 2025.

The Budget measures include: 

  • New tax cuts – more additional tax cuts to all Australian Taxpayers, with additional tax cuts in 2026-2027
  • Extending energy bill relief – to the end of 2025 for every household and 1 million small businesses
  • Strengthening Medicare – a record bulk billing investment of $7.9 billion for free GP visits
  • Making healthcare more accessible – boosting access to essential heath services by investing in urgent care clinics, the public hospitals and the health workforce
  • Better healthcare for women – more choice, lower cost and better care for Australian women throughout different stages of life
  • Making it easier to buy and rent a home – expanding Help to Buy, doubling the funding for homelessness services and strengthening renters’ rights
  • Investing in education – investing in every stage of education from early childhood to schools to permeant Free TAFE
  • Cutting student debt – cutting student loan debt for 3 million Australians by a combined $19 million
  • Supporting disaster recovery – support for communities, states and local governments affected by ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred
  • Supporting small businesses – easing pressure and levelling the playing field for small businesses
  • Building a future made in Australia – unlocking investment and securing Australia’s place in the world
  • Investing in First Nations communities – $1.3 billion over 6 years to support stronger outcomes for First Nations Australia
  • Support wellbeing – improving aged care, looking after veterans and supporting people with disability
  • Investing in infrastructure – $17.1 billion over 10 years for road and rail in cities, regions and communities
